Behind the Block: Meet Karen Chiswell-Williams

If Karen Chiswell-Williams ever decided to change careers, there’s a good chance she’d be swapping property management for forensic science.

Yes, really.

From crime drama dreams to knitting projects and a love of sweets, we caught up with Karen as part of our Meet the Team series to learn more about the personality behind the role.

🔍If Karen could live the life of one TV character…

It would be Dr Nikki Alexander from Silent Witness.

For Karen, the world of forensic investigation has always been fascinating, making the role of forensic pathologists something of a dream job.

Crime drama fans will understand.

🍽️The last meal question

Karen isn’t overcomplicating things.

Her final request would be a steak and chips with peppercorn sauce, classic, comforting and hard to beat.

🎶Walk-on song energy

If a song played every time Karen entered a room, it would be “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad” by Meatloaf.

A classic choice – a little dramatic, a little nostalgic and definitely memorable.

🍬Guilty pleasure?

Sweets.

Simple. Honest. Entirely relatable.

🧶Life outside Glide

When she’s not working, Karen enjoys knitting, a hobby that requires patience, clarity and a good eye for detail.

Something tells us those skills are translate quite well into property management too.

🔬Dream job (if not property)

For Karen, the dream job would be forensic pathologist.

Which brings us nicely back to Silent Witness.

💡Advice to her younger self

“Pay attention at school.”

Short, sharp and probably advice we could have all used at some point.

❄️One thing on Karen’s bucket list

A cruise to the Norwegian fjords to see the Northern Lights.

A pretty spectacular item to tick off.

📺A quote Karen says far too often

“Brace yourself, Effy.”

Which fans of Skins will recognise instantly.

💙What Karen enjoys most about Glide

For Karen, it’s simple – the people.

Everyone is friendly, welcoming and supportive, which makes coming into work something to enjoy rather than something to dread.

And that’s exactly the kind of culture we’re proud of at Glide.

From forensic science fascination to cosy knitting evenings and Northern Lights dreams, Karen brings her own unique personality to the Glide team – and we’re very glad she does.
